A Hertfordshire garden on a steeply sloping site,with mature planting

Client brief: to create a garden for a newly retired professional with time available to spend in the garden .

•The design is to enhance the privacy from the neighbouring gardens.

•The  requirement was for the slope to be terraced to make transition through the garden more comfortable

• A large area for entertaining visitors and family is required and also an area for personal relaxation in the garden.

• The lawn was to be retained as was much of the existing planting with a view of improving existing planting areas with a contemporary style planting.

•Semi formal styling of the garden was with planted containers and furniture and was to include a decorative slate water feature.
